Capitl is a tablet based application with some smart phone capabilities. The name is a play on the meaning of value in information aggregation. The tool allows users to aggregate highly credible objective political articles. These articles can be annotated and fact checked using Capitl. Capitl also becomes aware of user preference and tracks how one's political leanings are created and change over time. This can be viewed in each user's profile and compared between other users.
Information is broken down into small issues that make up large issues allowing a user to see what affects his or her overall political stance. Users can create civic initiatives using Capitl as a platform to gain user following and funding to make a local impact in public policy. Users can follow specific subjects within their reading updates. If one subscribes to a certain author or civic initiative they will receive notifications keeping them up to date on that new item. Interactions with the articles are broken down into local, state, and national issues and in this way users can see the connections or disconnects between national and local issues.
