Te Kōkī New Zealand School of Music presented a concert of works by Giuseppe Verdi and Richard Wagner in the Wellington Town Hall on Tuesday 28 May, 2013, in honour of the 200th anniversary of the birth of both these composers. The NZSM Orchestra, conducted by Kenneth Young, featured soloists from the NZSM's Classical Performance Voice programme.

In this excerpt, third year soprano Daniela Rosa Cepeda sings 'Non so le tetre imagine' from Verdi's opera Il corsaro. Medora yearns for her beloved Corrado as she awaits his return from battle at sea. In this aria, we are taken into the grief stricken soul of a woman who, in all helplessness, fears for Corrado's life, while prophesying her own tragic fate.

NZSM will present four full performances of this opera in late July, 2013, in the Opera House, Wellington.
