Red Ribbon Chinese Dancers' first show at Berkeley Community Media.
Red Ribbon Chinese Dancers is a dance group lead by Mei Sze Phung, who graduated from UCLA and is working on "A Dance to World Peace", a feature film about a daring teenager (role to be played by Mei Sze herself) who attempts to use dance from around the world as a tool to alleviate global hunger, in order to bring world peace (based on her own life story). Accompanying this feature film, Mei Sze is working on Project #DanceToEndHungerNow to market/publicize the film and gain supporters and participants from all walks of life.
Red Ribbon Chinese Dancers was formed at the Jih Der Sheng Daw temple (where Daoism is practiced).
Mei Sze choreographed and taught all of these dances to the youth at Jih Der Sheng Daw Temple from January 2012 to August 2013. Collectively, they performed for the holiday celebration events hosted by Jee De Temple (a Daoism branch temple connected to Jih Der Sheng Daw), including Mother's Day and Chinese New Year, among others.
