This film is a multi-camera recording of a live performance of the play 'How D'you Know That?' and was commissioned by Sandwell Community History and Archives Service. The play forms an integral part of an HLF funded project inspired by Malcolm X's historic visit to Smethwick in 1965. It was a moment defining time as Malcolm X was assassinated in the U.S just 9 days later.
During the project local school children and teachers from schools in Sandwell were invited to Smethwick library to watch the play in the archives and then take part in workshops with CHAS staff and teachers. This performance features on an educational DVD distributed to local schools and community groups in Sandwell. It is also accompanied by our short documentary on 'How D'you Know That?' and Midland News bulletins from the period.
