Angela Johnson has proven to be a triple threat in the record business. In addition to being a wonderful and powerful vocalist, songwriter, and producer; Angela also acts as a devoted mother and wife. In the brief time I spent with her, I can see why she's in high demand on all fronts and can handle all duties with ease and grace.
Her last two projects: "A Woman's Touch vol. 1," and "Revised, Edited and Filpped", released on Purpose Records, showcases the growth as a performer and producer over her last 11 years as a solo artists. The critically-accailmed CD "A Woman's Touch" showcased Angela as both a talented songwriter as well as producer working with the likes of Claude McKnight, Gordon Chambers, Eric Roberson, Rahsaan Patterson, Maysa, and Julie Dexter. And her latest, "Revised, Edited and Flipped", reintroduces music fans to her older work remixed.
The Utica, New York native began playing the piano at age 4 and was playing violin at 9. By her early teens, Angela was the choir director for the teen choir and had advanced to church organist. Upon graduation she attended college at SUNY in Purchase, New York. There she met Tortured Soul Collaborator Christian Urich and lead the group, Cooley's Hot Box. Angela co-lead the group for close to 6 years before releasing her solo debut "They Don't Know" in 2002.
Currently, Angela will be going on the road and is in the process of recording a new CD. For more information on Angela's upcoming club dates or to order her music, please visit her online at angelajohnsonmusic.com.
