Energy use at Kapolei High School is high largely due to air conditioning of all buildings in a hot Leeward Oahu environment. Students in a science course studied the potential impact of window tinting on reducing heat gain. They found that it could be effective but that further study is needed to find the best solution for the entire school. This video created by a student discusses the problem and gives hope for the future. Mahalo to Tommy Silva of T&T Tinting Specialists for guidance and support and to Hawaii Energy and NEED for project funding.
