High Country Community Health is a newly funded Federally Qualified Health Center with locations in Avery and Watauga County. A Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) is a medical home in the community that provides primary and preventive health care and is open to all regardless of ability to pay. Health Centers are community-based and patient-directed organizations that serve people with limited access to health care. These include low-income patients and the uninsured. Federally supported clinics provide comprehensive, culturally competent, quality primary health care to a broadly diverse patient base.
