I've been building up my skills and my confidence to the point I feel capable of flying over water with my Cinestar. As some of you might have seen, a month or so ago I did some flying over a nearby marina. It was a very calm day, and I barely flew 100 meters away from the dock where I was standing.
Today, after months of discussion, I went to a nearby beach with my neighbor (an avid surfer) to do some filming from the air. I decided to use the Sony C760V, and otherwise didn't change anything on the Cinestar 8. To review, I have a 2-axis gimbal with Radians, a "standard" 4S MK electronics stack, a SmartOSD, and Iftron FPV downlink running off the composite output of the Sony. This is one of the first longer-distance flights with my new Zeiss Cinemizers, and I really appreciated them today.
The flying conditions were a little iffy, with winds coming off the ocean at about 10 knots (slightly more than 10 MPH) and gusting a bit. But it was super clear and sunny (not common around these parts) and all in all it was a beautiful day. The surf was a bit turbulent because of the wind, so there wasn't a lot of good action.
