I met Brittany Gray while filming the prep portion for a bridal shower and immediately recognized the incredible difference in the way Brittany does make-up compared to the countless artists I've seen and worked with. The attention to detail speaks to her knowledge, technique, and experience, while the atmosphere was just so light-hearted and fun, yet luxurious and undeniably professional. After I rolled out the bridal shower highlight video, Brittany and I got in touch and out came the idea for this piece, to share an intimate and raw look of this accomplished artist and business owner.
This film was shot with two Canon EOS 60D's looking through a Tokina 11-16mm F2.8, Sigma 35mm F1.4, a Canon 100mm Macro F2.8L, and a Canon 135mm F2.0L, supported on a Manfrotto BHDV561-1 Video Monopod, and a Glidecam HD2000. Sound was yanked in using a pair of Rode VideoMic Pros, and a Sony ECM wired lav plugged into a ZOOM H1 and anchored to Brittany during the interview with a Rycote Undercover. Post and grading were performed entirely on FCPx. The soundtrack is an instrumental cut of a song called 'I'll Be Right Behind You, Josephine" by Josh Woodward and is used with permission under the expressed Creative Commons License.
