Narcissus uses a biometric sensor to amplify each visitor's heart beat. The data is translated into a sequence of animations that appear in a reflecting pool containing 26 gallons of spent petroleum. The animations move in exact synchronicity with the viewer's heart, producing an arresting link between the visitor and the work. Over time the processed data generates a poem unique to each visitor. The poem questions the visitor's awareness of the larger natural system they are inseparably a part of.
