Guy on a skateboard holds a 600 size helicopter to drive forward! Ultimately this is one of our funniest but at the same time most dangerous stunts. NEVER REPEAT THIS EXPERIMENT! Instead, have fun watching us do it for you!
Heli is a freakware/Align T-Rex 600, battery-powered. We did several takes and found that the most critical thing are the start (heli easily pulling you off the board meaning you have to "wiggle" to get things moving) and especially the stop. The pilot will stop the engine by switching to autorotation mode (= pitch remains constant while motor is off). It is FATAL to just pull back the throttle/pitch lever like in a flight mode because then the heli stops instantly and the guy on the skateboard would just fall into the disk. BTW, we cleaned the street from all small stones before the experiment!
Max. speed we reached during different takes was a bit over 25 km/h (15 mph). Faster would have been possible but that was still okay because the guy on the board could also run that fast in case he had to jump off (and he did have to quite a few times!)
