The Boy now resides in Pleasant Park after escaping from maximum security for the murder of his father. With the help from a little girl he builds a rocket ship in the hope it will take him to a place where he belongs.
The town that surrounds pleasant park is no friend of the Boy; in fact they find him to be a nuisance. The city council is out to foil his construction plans, and the social workers from St. Augustine church want to institutionalize him.
After a failed launch attempt he is locked away inside the St. Augustine bell tower.
The little girl pleads with him to stay, and live with her. Now he is torn between planning his escape and leaving, or staying with his only friend.
