Took the new Nikon D5200 out for field work. Lots of good reviews on the quality of the video and it's ergonomics especially the articulating screen.
The video was shot with a Nikon 24-120mm F4 VR at ISO 1600 primarily.
It records at 720p at 50fps for PAL and Auto white balance.
For Vimeo, the frame rate was reduced to 30fps so that the encoder can accept it.
The articulating screen is very useful and makes a world of difference to the actual usage of the camera. I was standing at an uncomfortable angle while shooting and the articulating screen was angle at me and I was able to pull focus quickly and effectively whilst zooming!
Quality was set at high ( obviously ) and the camera records at 24 Mbs which is pretty high and is comparable or supersedes some of the professional camcorder currently out in the market.
I am impress by the quality of the footage it churns out.
Noise control is good and at ISO 1600, there's hardly any traces of noise. I did push it up to 2500 for some footages and noise was not prominent. The blacks is good here and retains surprisingly good detail.
Overall, I am very pleased with the video performance of this new HD DSLR camera from Nikon. Aside from the video, it provides just as fantastic images even in Jpeg.
