Law Enforcement agents can expect to work in entry-level positions in police departments, sheriff’s offices, highway patrol and private security firms. Satisfactory completion of the Law Enforcement Science Program rewards the student with an AAS degree and the opportunity to become a Certified Law Enforcement Officer in South Dakota. Students are expected to conduct themselves professionally, on and off campus. The first year of study focuses on basic skills development and an overview of the law enforcement system. The second year of training is more specialized with students taking advanced law enforcement courses.

South Dakota Law Enforcement Certification
The South Dakota Law Enforcement Standards and Training Commission has granted Southeast Tech’s Law Enforcement Science graduates the opportunity to receive law-enforcement certification through a reciprocity examination. Students who become certified greatly increases his or her employment opportunities.
