On March 2, 2012, an EF-4 tornado devastated the town of Henryville, Indiana. Sadly, 14 people lost their lives in the tornado and hundreds of homes were leveled. The storm also destroyed Henryville Elementary School and Henryville Jr/Sr High School. A strong and tight knit town of just over 1,500 residents, the people of Henryville knew that the only way to get through the catastrophe was to come together. The schools were the very foundation of the community and in order to heal, they needed to rebuild them. Five months later, the schools were rebuilt and the people of Henryville shared in the accomplishment.
Many of our communities have faced inconceivable tragedy only to join to together and find strength in union. In this same spirit, State Farm wants to honor our resilient communities. This video celebrates community strength found through a shared experience.
