It's always a challenge to combine celestial objects with earthy elements using great focal length. This video was taken using a refractor telescope with a dslr camera attached. The man’s distance from the camera is roughly 150 meters. The ship is a few kilometers away and the Sun's distance about 149,600,000 km. They all have comparable sizes because the distances are compressed from the 600mm focal length. The tricky part is to try to include all the action in the extremely narrow field of view. For this short clip I was testing and experimenting for many days before I finally succeed. The video was taken at Kos island, Greece. The passing ship is Blue Star 2, a big vessel that regularly connects Dodecanese islands with Athens. At the distant background, Kalymnos island.
Music: Samuel Barber. Adagio for Strings.
