'adidas lab' is the first in a series of innovation events showcasing the brands future products and celebrating their continued commitment to pushing the boundaries in performance technologies. This first event focused on innovation in football and took place over the UEFA Champions League Final weekend.
Kate joined the team at Kin as Design Director, overseeing the look and feel of all the content for two of the largest interactive activations at the event. The first, 'The Track', was a ground-breaking real-time data visualisation experience that tests footballing attributes on a 15m Astroturf track, by measuring speed, work rate and skill across three running challenges. Each consumer armed with an RFID tag would touch in, and their movement and statistics displayed on the screen as they undertook each of the three stages. The competitors final position was displayed immediately on a giant leader board along with a movie of their performance which was also shared on YouTube.
The second, 'The Smart Ball Wall', gave participants a chance to test the new adidas Smart Ball, designed to improve technique, power, spin and accuracy through an automated coaching system, feeding information back to the player through an app on their smart phone. Each player had the chance of three shots against the giant interactive wall which projected their impact and results.
