The Puffing Billy Railway, in the Dandenong Ranges of Victoria Australia, was originally a pioneer narrow
2ft 6in gauge line, built in the hills east of Melbourne. The line was closed in the 1950s and the section from Ferntree Gully to Belgrave was replaced by electric suburban trains. the Puffing Billy Preservation Society was initially formed and after some years, the section between Belgrave and Menzies Creek was restored for special steam trains. The second section to be restored was that between Menzies Creek and Emerald.
This video was taken on the occasion of the re-opening to Emerald in 1965 and is reproduced from silent 8mm film.
