Still very much a work in progress with tons of components that need to be added, but I figured that enough functionality is in place for me to go ahead and post a sneak peak of this interactive mapping tool I have been building in Processing.
The map shows our travels during an 11-day field study course for students in the meteorology program at Virginia Tech (I was a driver). Photos are embedded in the map that chronicle all aspects of the chasing experience (amazing storms, beautiful parts of the country, friendly midwesterners, and lots of driving). More video and writing components will be added in the future. Official storm reports from the Storm Prediction Center (SPC) are also mapped and shown as they occurred over the course of a day.
Not really ground-breaking as an interface or map viewer, but still an interesting exercise to chronicle and map one's experience alongside data.
