I had been wavering back and forth on whether or not to go out and shoot the Super Moon this past weekend as I usually end up with terrible moon shots. Well in the end my insomnia won over and I head over to Tempe Town Lake at about 3:30am to see if I could get some photos of the moon and also do a timelapse of the moon setting.

Overall I'm satisfied with the way this timelapse turned out but I really wish I would have put more thought into the composition and where the moon would actually be when getting close to the horizon. As you can see in the video I definitely missed out on the last remaining bit of the moon set.

One challenge I had during this timelapse was that I kept getting some bugs landing on the camera lens and there were several photos in the sequence that I had to remove as they just ruined the frames entirely so you can see a slight jump in the position of the moon due to that.

At the end of the timelapse I decided to toss in a couple of the images I took with my other camera during the morning and unfortunately for some reason, the photo of the moon setting over the bridge seems to have poor quality even though it's a hi-res shot....

Cameras used:
Nikon D7100 w/14-24mm f/2.8 lens for the time-lapse
Nikon D800 w/28-300mm f/3.5-5.6 lens for the images at the end
