July, 2013 - TAQA is the largest UAE investor in Ghana, a West African nation of 25 million people. We produce 15% of its electricity needs, providing power to more than a million people, and our investment in the expansion of the Takoradi power station is proof of our confidence and commitment to this business.
But our commitment to Ghana does not stop there. We also play a role in supporting education, particularly for the communities near our Takoradi facility.
“One of our values at TAQA is to be sustainable and an active member of the communities we operate in.” said Stephen John, TAQA’s Head of Sustainable Development.
Since 2001, TAQA has provided specialist teaching aids to the Sekondi School for the Deaf, which is just 10 minutes away from our plant and has more than a hundred pupils aged between four and 16 years old.
“Our support enables children that would otherwise fall outside of the mainstream education system to receive a head start in life,” says Mr John.
In this short film, we show the impact our support has on the lives of these children. To view the film, click here
