In summer 2021, the Slavkov Foreign Ministers met in Poysdorf, Austria, and signed the “Poysdorf Declaration on Digital Humanism”, in which they affirmed their commitment to the opportunities of digitalization alongside the protection of human rights. Digital Humanism is about re-aligning technological developments with human and societal needs, rather than the other way around. It means putting people and society back in the center of technological developments and making them the benchmark for development in the digital age.
At a time when the European Union discusses the political and legal framework for the digital area, i.a. Artificial Intelligence Act (AIA), and given the challenging global surroundings, it is of particular importance to bear in mind that a human-centered approach, a value-based digital transformation and digitalization as an innovation-booster do not exclude each other. This workshop provides a timely opportunity to discuss these issues with policy-makers, scientists and business representatives.
