"Inmates" by Inga Cholmogorova is a collaborative project, which will result as a dance film made out of the live performance on site. "Inmates" is a piece created for the specific location in Amsterdam as a duo butoh dance piece performed by Sakurako and Isabelle Ullman. The dance Film "Inmates" is coming out soon and this is a 1 minute movie "1 minute of Freedom" edited by Chris Rudz out of the material shoot during the performance "Inmates".
Synopsis: this is the story of love and despair during the search of freedom even within the ultimate constraint seeking to unfold the higher human potential. Through dance and interaction of two bodies in the given space the story of two female prisoners (inmates) falling in love is told. The euphoria of the experience of the ultimate freedom regardless the circumstances but the love affair is short lived, as one of them is sentenced to death while the other gets a life sentence. The heroine is devastated meanwhile her lover calmly accepts the death sentence and departs without emotional farewell. Is life a gift or a curse right after meeting and loosing the love of your life? Will the heroine be able to reach the inner peace and self-liberation while being bound to agony, despair in the life long imprisonment?
