Moxie Man – Irwin Zahn, alumnus of Stuyvesant High School (’44) and City College, is chairman of the Moxie Foundation in San Diego. He generously funded the donation of the Zahn Center to the Grove School of Engineering in City College. In addition, he funds business incubators with a focus on the entrepreneurial aspect of engineering. City College in New York, San Diego State and University of California San Diego benefit from this program. The program is intended to fund the development of prototypes. He also hosts the Zahn Prize, an annual entrepreneurship competition at City College with a grand prize of $20,000 to develop a product with full access to the resources of the Zahn Center. Through these programs, Zahn hopes to inspire students to think beyond the classroom and to encourage students to find their passions.
