A little edit I put together of a canyon some friends and I did. Salome Jug is a seriously fun technical canyon about an hour and half northeast of Phoenix that includes a rappel, lots of wading and swimming, sliding, rock hopping, and if you want, jumping. Salome Creek is in the Salome Wilderness, of the Tonto National Forest.
Just a heads up: This is a technical canyoneering hike with one rappel, and you'll want one 100ft static rope. The amount of water can vary significantly depending on the time of year, which will affect the difficulty. Go with someone who has been there and knows what they're doing. It's recommended that you don't attempt the canyon early in the season (Mar-May) without a wetsuit as the water is pretty cold (you could get hypothermia). Have fun! (and be safe)
