An intensely dramatic portrait of inner-suburban life, Winter of Our Dreams is "...a subdued, intelligent, thoughtful film..."(David Stratton) exploring the limits of love and the strength to survive.

Rob McGregor (Bryan Brown, Beautiful Kate) is the charismatic owner of a popular Balmain bookshop who has entered into an open marriage with his wife Gretel (Cathy Downes, Monkey Grip), loosely holding onto the 60s spirit of 'free love'. Whilst Gretel is busy pursuing an affair with one of her students, Rob learns of the tragic death of Lisa, an old friend whom he had known back in the days when they were both radical student activists.

Coming to terms with the past, Rob welcomes Lisa's friend Lou (Judy Davis in an AFI Award-winning performance) into his complicated life. Lou makes a living as a Kings Cross prostitute, wrestling her own personal demons, with cocain her substance of choice.

Identifying a kindred spirit in Lou, Rob is drawn to the strung-out prostitute and rallies to get her off drugs, convincing her to go 'cold turkey'. Inviting her to stay with him, their journey together represents a leap of faith as perilous as it is heartwarming.

Nominated for 7 AFI Awards and presented in a new widescreen transfer, Winter Of Our Dreams is written and directed by internationally acclaimed filmmaker John Duigan (Sirens, The Year My Voice Broke) and also features Peter Mochrie and Baz Luhrman.
