500 years ago Christopher Columbus discovered America. In 1997 another momentous discovery was made by the sailor Charles Moore on his way home from a race. He came across a giant patch of plastic waste in the middle of the Pacific. This patch, now known as the ‘Great Pacific Garbage Patch’, has approximately doubled in size since its discovery and continues to grow every year. ‘Plastic Soup’ was made to inspire people to recycle plastics and to help to save our seas.
