It's July, on Bristol Bay in Alaska @1:20 AM, hashtag damn late. So the question is, why am I awake with my camera in tow on the SS Heavy Metal, a 32ft fishing boat?? First because fishing boats are always moving and secondly because the concept of sunset is way out there in Alaska. The sun sets for something like 4 hours. At 1:00 AM its still magical. I had no idea. I was there for the salmon! So why was I on a salmon fishing boat for 10 days straight on my "vacation"? That's another story!
Photography is simply the language that says this is how I see it. I am not into massive manipulation, software programs, HD and all that cool stuff that now exists. There are so many talented folks out there doing that, its all good. I want to reflect reality, the sheer beauty of nature, just as it is, in real time, in one dimension, through the human eye. It's a beautiful thing.
