On May 20, an F5 tornado ripped through Moore, OK. It was on the ground for 40 minutes and traveled 17 miles through one of the most densely populated areas of Oklahoma. Over 12,000 homes were impacted or destroyed. The financial cost is estimated to exceed $2 billion. Yet only 24 people died. Many folks credit the low death toll to the information provided both before and during the storms by local broadcasters.
