First of all, may I ask you, do you have a humble and submissive heart to the authority structures in your life? Submit, oh it's a dirty word and it's a beautiful word. The application is that we are called to be submissive, we are called to be like Jesus. Jesus Christ is our model and motive for submission. He went to the Garden of Gethsemane on the eve of His crucifixion - "Father if it be Thy will, let this cup pass from me". Why? Because He knew that the cup represented going to the cross and bearing in His body and soul the weight of the holiness and wrath of God against sin. "Father if it be Thy will, let this cup pass from me." And then what did He pray? "But, not my will, but your will be done." And He did go to the cross and He did die for our sins and He did rise again from the dead and He did ascend to heaven and He now sits on the right hand of God and do you understand that if Jesus Himself had not submitted, we'd all be lost! We wouldn't be sitting in a church lifting up His praises, listening to great music. No, we'd be somewhere else living in darkness and damnation. But praise God He submitted to His authority. So, He's our model and He's our motive. He has you where you are for a purpose, and that purpose is to honor Jesus.
