(This video continues on the documenting of a rescued litter of originally 3, 1 week old hoglets - Part 8)
This is an additional update on these two hoglets here at Willows Hedgehog Rescue.
They have now reached the stage of having of full set of rather sharp little gnashers and are no longer being hand fed. They still have a blend with some replacement milk included but it is a thicker mix of high nutrient food and puppy food blended and they now feed for themselves in their pen.
At this stage they are very inquisitive and will on hearing the rescue area door open immediately push their noses through the pen door to get attention. When trying to clean their pen and indeed them as they cover themselves in food they will constantly want to chew your hand. This phase lasts for around a week or so after which they will ball and huff when we go in to clean them out.
In the wild hoglets of this age would be going on excursions with mum and they would be leaving the nest in around another week to two weeks.
