We are familiar with the story of how Jonah tried to avoid doing what God had told him to do (Jonah 1). Do men shirk, or try to run from their responsibilities to God today?
Psalms 139:1-12 tells us God knows everything about us. Yet, the Bible has numerous examples of people who made excuses for not doing God’s will - Jeremiah said he was too young (Jeremiah 1:16); while Moses said he was not an eloquent speaker (Exodus 4:10). The Parable of the Feast (Luke 14:16-20) recounts several excuses made for not attending a great feast. However, Hebrews 4:13 tells us we cannot hide from God. This study looks at how men try to hide from doing what God has commanded of us.
