Since Gloss and his sister Cashmere both won the Hunger Games in consecutive years, they were forced to work for the Capitol. Years later, at the day of the third Quarter Quell announcement, they hear the news: the male and female tributes will be reaped from their existing pool of victors. Cashmere cracks under the pressure when she and Gloss leave a party at the Capitol. She tries to be funny and marvelous during an interview with Ceasar, as everybody knows her for being the beautiful sweetheart she pretends to be, but Gloss knows that she just puts up a big front. The next day his sister calls him. She's in trouble, because she assumes that Snow might know about her secret affair with an important politician from the Capitol. Gloss always thought poorly of their relationship and now they are both in trouble for the fault that his sister once made. The siblings don't know that they are just a small piece in a big game. Katniss Everdeen has to die and they are going to die with her.

They will both be reaped. They know it for sure. And they were right.
