“The Heat” by Paul Feig capitalizes on the success of his earlier movie “Bridesmaids,” a female centered comedy and starts the breakout actress of that movie Melissa McCarthy as a Boston street cop, who joins forces with an uptight FBI Special Agent played by Sandra Bullock to arrest a drug lord. Critics hail the movie's original pairing of the two actresses, which turns a fairly sloppy police procedural script by writer Katie Dippold into a feminist statement about women's plight in the workplace.
