BACKGROUND: We record voice files which computers use to talk to you. We record each phrase in the sentence so they match together seamlessly when the computer speaks them. It should sound pleasant and seamless. The sound files above were NOT recorded correctly. PLAY it and see how disjointed they sound.
The mistake that was made was the audio person just recorded the phrases without much concern of how they match up to the other phrases in the sentence. Most recording studios come from a background of recording music or a radio commercial . These sound files don't have to match up with other sound files. Our sound files are slowly building a huge "voice tree" that takes years to build. And every file in that "tree" matches up with the others in proper syntax. This is the key to natural sounding computer speech. It's how we've been recording files since the beginning of in-car GPS navigation systems.
(We've recorded over 63,000 voice files without a single error in 15 years. Our clients include Alpine, Johnson Controls, IBM, deCarta, Boeing, Raytheon and Clarion.)
