The summer is here!
I don’t know about you, but I loved the summer as a child. It meant that each day there were endless opportunities to explore, to play, and to do what I loved to do. For me, this meant playing whiffle ball in the backyard, sorting my baseball cards, watching Cubs games, swimming at the local pool and riding my bike around the neighborhood.
Adulthood is quite different. Obligations of our jobs, families, along with bills to be paid, and our overall busy lives may leave us overwhelmed, tired, or disappointed that we don’t get to do what we would love to do.
A wise person asked me a question a few years ago, “what do you enjoy doing in your free time?”. Due to the hectic pace of life I remember feeling baffled by the question thinking to myself, “I don’t have any time to have free time”. This was a sad thought and yet it pointed to an issue that I had in my life.
I was not being the person that God had created me to be.
This summer at The Crossing we will be taking a close look at what it is that we love doing. What passions has
God uniquely placed inside of us? What is it that makes us come alive? Welcome to a time to “ReDiscover” who we are and who it is that God is calling us to be as His people.
