Brighton Residents v 2Degrees
We strongly oppose 2 Degrees who are planning to install a 12mtr cell phone tower amongst our homes on our beautiful coastline vista. This tower will be approx 20 metres from where young children sleep! No consultation, no discussion!!!
We strongly oppose a cell phone tower being erected in a residential area where numerous children live. The most obvious reason being the potential effects on health from increased electromagnetic radiation, but also the visual impacts on the neighbourhood and this installation will impede much needed safety improvements to our road.
On 19 April 2013 a handful of residents were informed that the 2 Degrees mobile telephone network has been granted a Certificate of Compliance (COC-2013-1) by Dunedin City Council to erect a 12 metre pole with adjacent cabinets at the southern end of Scroggs Hill Road. There has been no consultation or discussion prior to the COC being granted. The current legislation and District Plans do not require the public or affected people to be consulted.
