On April 27th, at the call of the Mid-Atlantic Climbers, 70-odd climbers and other assorted park volunteers convened for the second RockFest (this one RockFest 2013; can we call the second one 'annual' now?). Work projects included new steps on the trail near the pavilion, removal of a swath of the invasive bamboo forest, improving the natural play area, more invasive plant species removal, rebuilding two foot bridges along the self-guided tour trail, and graffiti removal at Kilgore Falls. A full workday was supported by lunch provided by Earth Treks. After the work projects were completed for the day, a raffle was held with a ton of prizes, and then a significant fraction of the climbers who remained headed out to the rocks to get in a few hours of climbing on some of the best routes (and tallest*) in the state.
* - tallest in this corner of Maryland, anyway
