A primarily self-taught painter and sculptor, Bernard frequently depicts abstract symbols in his work. He favors the painting mediums of watercolor and oil. His sculptures are as much works of architecture as they are works of art; Bernard received a BS degree in Architecture from Tyler School of Art, Temple University. He serves on the steering committee of Fountain Gallery, where he has designed retail sales events and has curated exhibitions. Through Hanging Art, an organization he founded in 2004, Bernard presents work by various artists in retail locations in the New York metropolitan area, and he is manager and curator of Gallery New World Stages, a two-floor exhibition space in the performing arts complex at Worldwide Plaza. Bernard was the lead artist of a large-scale Fountain Gallery sculpture unveiled at the Kennedy Center in 2011 and currently on view to the public at the Citi building in Long Island City. Fountain Gallery presented Bernard’s work at the 2013 Outsider Art Fair.
