During the interactive spaces project in CIID, we came up with the idea of previsioning people's movement on the stairs. We detect people's movement by Kinect with openTSPS Kit, calculate useful information base on those data, and send to Spacebrew. Spacebrew is an amazing online platform that bridges input and output data simply by a single click, even across faraway spaces, so that you can light up a stripe of led light in New York while walking up on a set of stairs. Here in our project we use motors to represent the movement of people on the stairs. According to the spinning speed, switching speed, and patterns of how the motors spin in turns, people can be aware of somebody's coming.
