Performed by Phil Cook and the Guitarheels
"Boomer's Story" is renowned slide guitarist Ry Cooder's second album, and the one where he truly hit his stride as a musician. In May of 2013, Megafaun's Phil Cook assembled a group of North Carolina artists to recreate the spirit of the making of that album which culminated in a very special one-time performance at the beautiful Haw River Ballroom in Saxapahaw, NC.
Relive this legendary album through a very talented group of young musicians who ALL appear to Be hitting their own stride as artists
This 21 minute concert documentary is an effort to hone in on the marriage of live music and video.
It portrays the magic that is a live concert experience by giving context to the music itself and introducing the personality of the musicians.
Specifically the film shows how something as American as roots music, combined with the vibrant local scene, a talented and unspoiled group of players, a very special venue and the web platform can bring a new level of engagement to the art that is music.
