The Sol Inspirations’ Fashion Scholarship and Benefit was an event hosted by Bespoke in Edina that gave five Apparel Design students the chance to compete for a $500 scholarship!
The fabrics were hand selected at different thrift shops, to promote the upcycling and reusing of different materials, the assortment of fabrics was then showcased to the designers who had to use only these fabrics to create their look.
On February 7th all the attendees of the event voted for the designer that they thought should win the contest and $500 scholarship. Before casting their ballots we encourage people to walk around the space and speak with each designer, give the students a chance to sell or defend their work.
Our competition’s winner was Crystal Compton, a student at the University of Minnesota. Her garment was worn by model Kaitlin Barnaby. She was genuinely excited and very sweetly accepted the award from the President of SOL Alex Detrick.
