Jay C. Sweeney, V.M.D., received his veterinary degree from the University of Pennsylvania’s School of Veterinary Medicine in 1971. He’s worked with the Naval Undersea Center and had a consulting practice in Aquatic Animal Medicine where he advised an international clientele in the diagnosis and treatment of aquatic mammals. Jay is Co-Owner/President of Dolphin Quest and a member of AVMA, IAAAM, IMATA, EAAM, and AMMPA. Jay received an Excellence in Marine Mammal Medicine (IAAAM) and the Sonny Allen Professional Achievement (IMATA) Awards. He has published over 80 scientific articles and chapters on various subjects dealing with marine mammal medical care, and continues to lecture at universities and colleges on Marine Mammal Medicine. Besides consulting on the configuration of exhibits and life support systems for numerous new public display facilities, Jay has also conducted extensive field research with free-living marine mammals.
