We were fishing at night over the Norfolk Canyon for sworfish. Checked one line that had a small blue shark hanging on it. Later had a nice mako on, estimated 200 lbs. Steve is fighting the good fight when right beside the boat the mako launches straight up 20-30 feet in the air. Most of us exit the cockpit fast and run under the hardtop. I was expecting the mako to land on my hardtop or cockpit but spashed right beside the boat. The mako launched 2 more times right beside the boat. I got 2 of the 3 jumps on video. The video is both scary and funny at the same time watching us react to this beast. Mako sounds and Steve fights him for 45 minutes. Get him beside the boat and the hook pulls. Not cut leader, hook just pulls. Mako is close to the boat but just not close enough to poon. Lost the fish. Oh well that is fishing.
