The pre-hispanic works of the people of the now Mexico City basin have influenced to this day the geometries of Mexico City. During the 1450’s the Aztec cilivilization lived on a series of islands in the basin and constructed canals at the base of the rivers. The causeways became the major avenues and the dikes ring roads around the city.
