This avant-garde mix of narrative cinema, performance and psychoanalysis starts with an unfortunate fall on the stairs by Hans, an acclaimed director past his prime. Having slipped on a banana peel, Hans dies during a television talk show. The film covers several seconds of his agony and departure into the abyss, where he meets the most important women of his life: the ghost of his nanny and mother, dead actresses and former lovers, Whitney Huston and Balthazar, the talking donkey. This Brechtian and constantly deconstructing story is a series of looping meetings among the characters who are real, imagined and symbolic. One of these meetings is central to the entire story and actually happened when Jean-Luc Godard and Anna Karina, his former favourite actress, muse and wife, met years after parting on a television show.
