This is the second year Karratha Soroptimists (SI-KAD) have hosted a sewing-for-charity day, to make: birthing dolls for midwifery training in Papua New Guinea (a project of SI-South West Pacific); red beanies for the Nuns of Buhtan (in conjunction with SI-Fremantle); and beanies for the homeless in Perth (in conjunction with SI-South Perth). We have been well supported by friends in the broader community. This time, we also had a 'cooking division' - the SI-KAD girls made approximately 100 meals - some became a light lunch for our volunteers, the balance for the Women's Refuge in Karratha, and in Roebourne. It is such a great day, we are looking to make it a regular, and more frequent event. I now have some 'movie making skills' and can share our story.
