WHO WE ARE
Since 2007, NØSTIGMAS has empowered a community of mental wellness through inspiring events, dynamic public speakers and sharing stories of hope. Now, we have big plans to build the 1st Virtual Wellness Center with free 24/7 access to resources like: - 1-on-1 Peer Support & Therapy Animal Access - Directory of Low/No-Cost Mental Health Services - Mental Wellness Toolkits for Self & Caretaker Help - Community Events & Activity Meetup Groups - Inspirational Stories, Interviews, Videos & Art
Every single person at NØSTIGMAS is a volunteer, including our Board of Directors, and since we don't have a brick and mortar building, we have very little overhead. That means that your donation will go exactly where you want- to make the NØSTIGMAS Center a reality!
WHY IT'S NEEDED
Quite simply, those who have support tend to live more fulfilling lives and are less likely to die by suicide. Here are some people your support will help: - People who are uninsured or have limited access to traditional healthcare - Those living with a mental illness, substance use disorder, post-tramatic stress, self-harm and anxiety disorders -Caretakers of those in need of support -The LGBT, military and immigrant communities
The most common complaint we hear is, "I've searched for hours/days and can't find the information I need to help myself/a loved one." What if it this information was in one place and accessible whenever you needed it?
WHAT YOU GET
In addition to the warm fuzzies you'll get by giving, you'll also be building a lasting resource that can evolve over time to meet the changing needs of mental wellness for our kids and their kids.
You want stuff too? Well, our supporters have provided some really great perks for you- Music from Friends of Emmet, Ticket to the NØSTIGMAS Center Launch Party, Goose Island Brewery Tour & Tasting, Cubs Tickets and more to come!
Full Project Details
The entire project is estimated to cost $20,000. But, we're not sitting around and waiting for it to fall from the sky. Our volunteer Directors are in the process of seeking grants and forming partnerships in healthcare, education and government to cover the remaining balance. In the meantime, our volunteers are hard at work with the first phase of the project!
PHASE 1: Directory of Mental Health Services & Community Events will be a searchable by category, keyword and location. The focus will be no and low-cost services accessible to everyone. This phase will cost $5000 to complete, which covers the manpower necessary to compile and verify the data, the construct of the NØSTIGMAS Center web portal and basic operating costs, like insurance and professional fees.
PHASE 2: Mental Wellness Toolkits will be provided at no cost via the NØSTIGMAS Center and to campuses starting in the Chicagoland area. These toolkits will contain both self-help and caregiver information. All of the elements of the toolkit will be interactive and have multimedia elements to better reach today's youth. Printed materials will be available upon request and at NØSTIGMAS functions. This phase will cost $5000 to complete which will cover research, mental health expert fees, web development and printing costs.
PHASE 3: Our 1-on-1 Peer Support program is based on the Imerman Angles model, will match a person with lived mental illness or suicidal loss experience with someone who is in a similar situation. These 1-on-1 relationships give mentees or caregiver the chance to ask questions, find support, get help navigating the system, determine options and create their own support systems. The program is estimated to cost $10,000 to implement. This will cover software licensing to facilitate the mentor and mentee screening process, legal fees and marketing costs. Therapy animal access will also be provided through this service via partner organizations.
