Five miles from downtown Los Angeles and steeped in a chemical smog, Vernon, Calif. is home to over 1,800 industrial operations and businesses. With a human population of 90 individuals, this "city" was developed with the specific purpose of housing a sector dedicated to production and manufacturing.
This is the preview to a short editorial video by photojournalist David Karnowski titled Vernon The Virulent. Featuring timelapse scenes of the L.A. River and the truck-laden and decayed streets of Vernon, the essay is aimed at exposing the industrial apocalypse that founds our consumer lifestyle.
