Kelly Woods, our junior high youth pastor, shares the story of how God got a hold of her heart for the poor. Going beyond just being aware of the poor, she challenges us to stand up and be an advocate for anyone who is marginalized or overlooked.
Matthew 25: 31-46 is a hard verse to be sure, but it illustrates the heart of Jesus so clearly. He fights for the ones who can’t fight for themselves. He goes so far as to identify with them so much that He says what is done for them, is done for Him. This is good news, because it reminds us that God has been an advocate for us. He is there to be our counselor, intercessor, comforter, healer, and so much beyond that; and so He has also called us to do the same for the overlooked we walk past everyday.
